The ISP is structured to recognize that parents choosing this alternative educational option are instrumental in the development of their child's academic success and that each child in unique.
WHO WE ARE
What is the Independent Scholar Program (ISP) at Riverside? Who are the families that it serves? What does ISP have to offer? These are just a few of the questions that you may be asking yourself. The good news is that ISP is an amazing program, right here in your school district, which is undergoing exciting changes.

This alternative education program provides social and academic enrichment for homeschooling families. The Independent Scholar Program serves students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, who have chosen to homeschool, but are looking for guidance on curriculum, support in achieving grade level standards, as well as a partnership that ensures they are implementing the most effective methods of instruction possible.

The Independent Scholar Program is excited to announce that beginning in the fall of 2018, Grades 7-12 will attend on Mondays and Wednesdays, and will receive direct instruction in the areas of English, Math, and Science. All other classes required for Washington State graduation are also available online, or through district approved curriculum.

The K-6th grade program attends on Tuesdays and Thursdays and has also seen much growth this year, and will continue to progress, as the staff at ISP strives to improve academic achievement, by working alongside parents to challenge the students and assisting them in reaching their educational goals. In the ISP classrooms, high expectations are being set for all students. Teachers offer grade level math groups, rigorous writing workshops, laboratory science opportunities, and engaging literacy instruction. The program is without a doubt continually moving toward its goal to become one of the outstanding partnerships for homeschool families in this area.

The vision for the future of ISP is to continue to provide quality educational support for homeschool families, to ensure that students are meeting grade level standards, and to adequately prepare them to achieve the future of their dreams!
